What is the best way to present a 6″ plastic lizard for bass?

Should I use these lizards on lighter spinning tackle with a finesse presentation, or should I Texas rig them on a baitcaster on a 7′MH rod?

Depends on the situation.

Understand- When Texas-rigging, as you add more weight, it eliminates the action of any soft plastic. And how a lure “looks” in the water is important to catching fishing.

Many of your questions have been “bedding/nesting fish” oriented.

In a bedding/nesting situation, you want your soft plastic to look as “natural” as possible. And the most natural looking soft plastic’s have either very little weight OR no weight, when fishing beds. Bedding fish are very spooky, and large “splashes” and quick movements can really put them off.

So, if your fishing bedding fish go with as little weight as possible.

The weight of the lure will designate what size line and what outfit you decide to use.

A weightless worm/lizard is difficult to cast effectively with a baitcaster- although it is do-able- esp with a nice baitcaster- like a Shimano, Core.

BTW-Here’s one of the best lizards to use for beds (green pumpkin or pumpkin/chartreuse tail)- http://www.basspro.com/Zoom®-Soft-Plastic-Baits-SS-Lizard/product/7511/-1754568

And, ugh, I’ve caught fish to 8LB’s with spinning tackle and Texas-rigged soft plastics. A MH 7′ Spinning rod can stick a fish just as good as a Baitcasting outfit. It’s just a matter of what you prefer….

However, understand- Spinning outfit’s are more tailored for fishing lighter lures with lighter lines. Baitcaster’s are tailored to fishing heavier lures with heavier lines.

Try this- Attach a 6″ Texas-rigged, no-weight, lizard to both outfits and see which one casts better for you.

Hope this helps ya?
