fish scale t-shirt craft?

I am looking for a craft project. I did it as a kid, where you take the fish, paint it with a certain kind of paint and lay that on the t-shirt. The white t-shirt have the print of the fish scales. But i’m not sure of detail.

That’s basically it, but be sure to use a permanent paint on the t-shirt if you want it to last. (Also, wash the shirt before doing this and don’t use fabric softener of any kind since those could leave “resists” in the fabric, and don’t wash the painted shirt for at least a week.)
