This method works very well, I have used it numerous times with excellent results. Keep in mind, you will need a LASER PRINTER and LASER PRINTER IRON-ON TRANSFER PAPER. (google it, and just buy basic iron-on transfer paper for use with laser printers. usualy will cost $1.00 per sheet, or less if you purchase a larger quantity. also look on ebay if you want a lot for extremely cheap.)
ALSO, this method is BEST when used on LIGHT colored shirts. White shirts will always turn out best this way, but bright lighter colors will look fine too, as long as the color you are transferring is black.

What to do:

First of all create a digital version of the image, using photoshop or just draw the image, scan it, and touch it up by darkening it using photoshop or something similar.

Once you have the image in digital format, you will need to flip the image to face the opposite direction (the print has to be a mirror image so it will set correctly when ironed into the shirt).

Now, print the image with your laser printer, on to the iron-on transfer sheet.

When complete, use a hard surface, lay cloth down, place the shirt over the cloth, and iron out any wrinkles.

Now take your transfer and place it upside down on the shirt, so that the image will be facing the correct direction.

You will want to iron the edges first, in order to keep the transfer in place, preventing it from slipping and smearing the image on the shirt.
Continue with ironing the rest of the shirt, rotating the iron in small circles until you have ironed the entire surface. The package included with the transfer paper you buy will most likely have thorough ironing instructions, for best results.

Now, while the transfer sheet is still hot, remove it carefully from the shirt. Let the shirt sit for a while to dry.

After about 10 minutes, your shirt should be ready to wear.
